Classic South Luangwa & Lower Zambezi

Day 1: Flight from Lusaka to Mfuwe

On arrival at Lusaka Airport, you will connect onto a domestic scheduled flight to Mfuwe Airport, where a guide will welcome and take you to Chikunto Safari Lodge, your home during your 3-night stay in Zambia’s game-rich South Luangwa National Park.

Day 1-4: Chikunto Safari Lodge – South Luangwa National Park

This boutique, independent eco-friendly safari lodge has 5 luxury Tented Suites, tastefully combining feelings of intimacy with feelings of space and of connection to the African bush around you. The small lodge is inside the South Luangwa Park on the western bank of the Luangwa River. It is located just north of the central Mfuwe area allowing easy access, the transfer time from the airport should not exceed an hour and a half with the last 50 minutes taking you through some of the best game territory the Luangwa has to offer.

With panoramic views out over the Luangwa River and flanked by rolling plains, plateaus, and miombo vegetation the camp / lodge is located in an area of distinctive natural beauty and in a location renowned for its density and variety of wildlife. The camp is set a couple of kilometers off the main game-viewing road that heads up-stream, there is a network of roads in that area that would not be frequented by other camps and a couple of lagoons in the vicinity are focus points for both drives and walks.

The camp first opened in 2019 so it is one of the more recent additions to the South Luangwa portfolio, it was constructed with a keen attention to detail and the rooms offer high levels of comfort but the area in which the camp differentiates itself from most of its neighbours is in the kitchen; meals are well thought out and offer a little bit more than one has come to expect from most Zambian safari camps in recent years.

A new elevated Stargazing & Sleep out platform has recently been opened at Chikunto, with a Private Sundowner and Dinner option up on the deck.

Day 4: Flight from Mfuwe Airport to Royal Airstrip

You will be transferred to Mfuwe Airport to catch a domestic scheduled flight to Royal Airstrip. At Royal, a guide will welcome and transfer you to Zambezi Grande, your home during the last 4 nights of this Zambian safari.

Day 4-8: Zambezi Grande – Lower Zambezi

Zambezi Grande is situated near the Lower Zambezi National Park, on a prime sector of the Zambezi River front, offering visitors an unforgettable personal retreat, with all the sumptuous indulgences a discerning guest would appreciate.

Zambezi Grande is a small, family-owned game lodge situated on the banks of the Zambezi River, a short boat-ride up-stream from the western edge of the Lower Zambezi National Park. It has 10 well-appointed air-conditioned rooms, 5 of these are very spacious, stand-alone “superior suites”, each with great views of the river whilst the other 5 “luxury rooms” are smaller and situated a little from the river bank.

The rooms and the communal areas of the camp have been decorated with style and elegance, there is a large deck in-front of camp set up with tables for dining as well as loungers and chairs around the pool which itself over-hangs the river, from its elevated position the views are uninterrupted.

Private in-room spa treatments are offered; you will be able to enjoy the luxurious therapies in the comfort of your own suite with a magnificent African landscape as your backdrop.

Inclusive activities on offer are: game drives, river safaris, fishing, cultural village visits, walking safaris and sundowner cruises.

Day 8: Flight from Royal Airstrip to Lusaka

At some stage on this day, you will be transferred to Royal Airstrip to catch a scheduled domestic flight to Lusaka, where you will connect onto your onward international flight going back home or to your next destination.

•              Accommodation for 7 nights (Luxury Suite at Chikunto & Superior Suite at Zambezi Grande)

•               All meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks and tea/coffee),
