About the Course
Day 1: Flight from Lusaka to Mfuwe
On arrival at Lusaka Airport, you will connect onto a domestic scheduled flight to Mfuwe Airport, where a guide from Mchenja Camp will welcome you and take you to the Lodge. Mchenja Camp will be your home during your 3-night stay in Zambia’s game-rich South Luangwa National Park.
Day 1-4: Mchenja Camp – South Luangwa National Park
Mchenja is the local name for ebony, and the camp is tucked into a shady ebony grove beside the Luangwa River in the heart of South Luangwa National Park.
The Camp’s five safari rooms (including a two-bedroom, two-bathroom family safari room) are pure, natural elegance with grass walls, soft cushions and light-as-air curtains. Each has a feather-top bed, large picture windows and open-air en-suite bathroom with a bath looking out onto the river. The tents are well furnished, including a roll top bath to compliment the shower and other facilities that are contained in the open-air en-suite bathroom. The main chitenji has a small pool partly under its roof, this not only adds to the aesthetics of Mchenja Camp but, come the warmer months at the end of the dry season, it provides a refreshing escape from the mid-day sun.
Since Mchenja Camp is on the main Luangwa River and there is a network of roads in the vicinity it is possible to choose between walking and driving. The area of the park just to the north and up-stream of Mchenja Camp provides some excellent game-viewing in very picturesque settings so do be sure and get your guide to take you up towards Lion Plain and Fish-Eagle Lagoon.
Mchenja Camp is an excellent spot in which to finish off any safari experience in the South Luangwa, it is combined most often with the other Norman Carr Safaris camps, Luwi, Nsolo and Kakuli but it is an excellent complement to many other camps in the area.

• Walking Safaris
• Safari Sundowners

Day 4-7: Potato Bush Camp – Lower Zambezi National Park
Potato Bush Camp is undoubtedly the best value-for-experience safari destination in the Lower Zambezi. The camp comprises only three suites and one family house, and all rooms are connected via raised walkways, making this an ideal safari lodge to book exclusively. We also guarantee private guiding on land and water and free transfer flights with every four-night stay.
The highly trained team, spacious tent rooms with private plunge pools, and seemingly endless list of activities make this riverfront camp a favourite for family safari holidays. Yet this local favourite keeps much of its original bush feel, which is elevated by the wildlife that wanders freely through the camp.
The three luxurious safari tents and one extensive family House are light, spacious, and designed to maximise their Zambezi River views. They also each come with their own plunge pool and outdoor lounge space.
The activities from this camp are similar to any other Lower Zambezi camp, the location within the park is great for game-viewing and fishing is good in this region of the river.

Capturing the authentic African bush camp experience in true Tongabezi luxury and style, Sindabezi Island is ‘nature therapy’ for the soul.
Enjoy views of the Zambezi River floodplain and Victoria Falls National Park from your open-fronted Chalet, knowing your only neighbours are the resident wildlife. Quiet hang-out spots and the main camp beckon you to unwind amidst the tranquility of this tiny isle, just 12km upstream from Victoria Falls.
With zero grid dependence, Sindabezi is one of Africa’s top 10 eco lodges according to Fodor's. So, the only footprints you will leave behind are in the island’s silky soft sand.
The five thatched Chalets are designed to blend into the Zambezi wilderness, bringing elements of nature indoors so that you are completely immersed in island living whenever possible. Perched on stilted wooden decks with full riverfront views, the Chalets are drenched in the natural light, sights and sounds of their wild surrounds. The entire island is also romantically lit at night with traditional hurricane lamps and candles, while a starlit sky adds an extra touch of wonder.
